Top 5 Makeup Products for Every Skin Type

Through Lilit’s career as a makeup artist, she learned that most people have no idea what their skin type is; even when they did, they were using the wrong products. For example, if you are oily, you should be staying away from foundations with the descriptive words such as luminescent, radiant, glow…etc. as these are describing products that will most likely “slip” on your face. If you are dry, you should probably stay away from words such as long-lasting, matte, full coverage, etc. as these imply they are dry formulations. 

In general, there’s one thing we know: if you are oily or dry, you know it! If your answer to skin type is “I don’t know”, then you are probably in the normal skin type spectrum. With that said, Lilit created products that everyone can use for all skin types in order to minimize the product confusion and application process. Below are all products for all skin types and what you should look for in other products.

1.    Glow Enhancer – this was created to neutralize the sebum (oil) in your skin. If you are oily, it will control the oil in your skin, if you are dry, it will hydrate. If you have normal skin type, this product will nourish your skin. The Glow Enhancer is a dry oil, not to be confused with olive or coconut oil.

a.    If you are looking for the right moisturizer for your skin, make sure you are using a lighter consistency lotion if you have oily or a heavier cream if you are dry.

2.    Pearl Radiance Primer – this is a water based primer. Silicon based primers are great if you know your skin type and are using it correctly. A water-based primer is great for all skin types as it will hold your makeup in place and hydrate your skin. Our Pearl Radiance Primer also blurs pores, fine lines and wrinkles while giving a beautiful pearlescent finish that doesn’t look frosty.

a.    Silicon based primers are great for dry skin and should only really be applied to the center of the face where there are pores such as Smashbox Photo Finish Primer or Benefit Pore Minimizer.

3.    Hydra Enhancer – you don’t know you need a hydrating mist in your life until you try one! Our setting spray is special for several reasons – it not only sets your makeup but hydrates your skin. It is also a clean water with a ph balance of 8.5+ which has smaller molecules to really penetrate deeper into your skin. You can use this spray to hydrate your skin throughout the day or after makeup to really melt the makeup into your skin to take away that “makeup” look.

a.    Although our Hydra Enhancer is both a setting and hydrating spray, not all sprays are. Most setting sprays do not feel wet and will lock your makeup in place but not necessarily hydrate it such as One Size or Urban Decay All Nighter. These are great setting sprays! You can also find hydrating sprays alone such as Caudalie or Mario Badescue which are great hydrating sprays!

4.    Miscro Silque Foundation – the first launch to our entire line. It was important for Lilit to create a “one size fits all” foundation that took the guess work out of picking the right foundation. It is water-based, silicon free and very buildable. Our foundation has a satin-skin finish that looks like skin after application.

a.    If you are looking for second-skin type foundations look for words such as Satin, Skin-like and Natural in your foundation descriptions. However, if you know you are oily or dry, you can definitely use foundations that can be used specifically for your skin type.

5.    Loose/Pressed Powders – this is another subject many are confused about. What is the difference between a loose and pressed powders? In GENERAL, loose powders are dryer in formulation than pressed powders. Pressed powders need emollients to hold the powder together and are therefore less drying than loose powders. However, it was Lilit’s goal to create a loose/translucent powder that was the least drying formula she had ever tried; so she created a loose powder that is so finely milled it melts into the skin.

a.    With that said, if you are oily, opt for loose powders that will really lock and set your makeup in place; you would also benefit from baking. If you are dry, look for pressed powders to set in your skin and please stay away from baking!
